Please Support My Sweaty Baby Daddy
Patrick Andersen, my favorite little brother and one-time king of Pittsfield MA, will be running the NYC Marathon on November 5th (with his twin brother) to raise funds for cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. So open up your wallets and send o'er some ducats to support these boys and this important mission.
Here are some more detes, straight from the horsey:
"For the past 5 years, we've run for both the pediatric cancer center in honor of our cousin, Ryan Andersen, who passed away in November 2000 from Leukemia at age 11 and the research of Dr. Mark Weiss, a Leukemia specialist and our mother's doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering. In June 1999, our mother was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia (CLL) and she has been visiting Dr. Weiss monthly for 2 years. Despite CLL being a very common form of leukemia (29% of all new cancer cases), there is no cure and the current route of treatment is to hold off chemotherapy or a bone marrow transplant as long as possible. Thankfully our mother has avoided treatment for the past 7 years - partially through the excellent treatment of Dr. Weiss, a world leader in CLL. We're honored to run to support his ongoing research and we hope that you will contribute.
The donations of friends, families and corporations have totaled more than $45,000 over the past 5 years funding research that is showing wonderful results. For example, the survival rate of childhood Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia was 85% in the 1990s vs. 3% in the 1960s.
