New Frenz, New Filosofies, Old Habits

autumn.jpg

The best part about moving has been rockin' the western slopes with all manner of new - and reacquainted - friends. Today may have taken the cake, though. A double-Thai'ed 10-hour hang with a helluva chap involving architectural salvage, good tunes and several car trips - all served up with one (1) Lousiana accent, two (2) big fat grins and nearly unlimited Loiggles.

I also got a very good piece of advice/philosophy/koan-ism from the fella. Try this on for size: one's greatest strength is also one's greatest weakness.

Ponder-ama, for sure.

My immediate feeling is that my greatest strength is a bullheaded self-reliancy, stubborness and total faith that I can do anything I want to do if I try hard enough. Which is also TOTALLY my greatest weakness (you saw that coming, dintcha?), as I place way too much pressure on myself to meet my own exacting standards. And all this self-reliancy just masks the fact that I find it wicked hard and demoralizing and ultimately painful to actually, truly depend on someone else (read: boy person)...'cepting, naturally, all my besties, whom I depend on for...um...everything.

Oh dear goodness. So much to chew on; so much to chew through.
I'm like a rat in the corncob maze of life.
